The West Bengal Civil Services exam is a national level examination conducted by the WBCS. West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has released WBCS 2020 exam pattern along with the notification in online mode on November 4, 2019 at pscwbapplication.in.
West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) sets the WBCS exam syllabus. The commission recruits for groups A, B, C and D and various posts under these groups.
The examination is conducted in three stages:
· Preliminary
· Mains
· Interview

Features of WBCS Exam 2020
1. The WBCS Prelims will have only one paper- General Studies. There will be no Aptitude Test, unlike numerous other state Public Service Commission exams.
2. The WBCS Mains round has six compulsory papers and one optional subject consisting of two papers.
3. Optional Subjects are meant to be taken by candidates opting for Group A and Group B services only.
4. Out of 6 compulsory papers, 4 are of MCQ Type:
a. General Studies- I
b. General Studies- II
c. The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India.
d. Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning.
5. The Mains Exam (Conventional/Essay) is allowed to be taken only in Bengali/English language. Candidates who are acquainted with either of these languages would not be able to take this examination.
6. There will be an immediate deduction of 10% of the total marks attained by the candidate if he/she discloses his/her identities by writing his/her roll number/name.
